Speaking at Expedition Finse 2026

I’m pleased to share that I’ll be giving a talk at Expedition Finse, which takes place from 20–22 February 2026 at Hotel Finse 1222 in Norway.

Expedition Finse is an annual festival, run in collaboration with the Norwegian Chapter of the Explorers Club, that brings together people with a passion for expeditions. Held in the dramatic mountain landscape of western Norway, Finse has long been a training ground for polar greats such as Nansen and Shackleton, and is often described as “Antarctica in miniature.”

The event combines talks, practical learning, guided trips, and a celebratory dinner where the Shackleton Award is presented. It also attracts many of the world’s leading polar explorers. Past editions have featured Børge Ousland, Rune Gjeldnes, Vincent Colliard, and Randi Skaug.

This year’s line-up includes a wide mix of voices from the world of adventure. Well-known British Broadcaster Ben Fogle will share stories from his expeditions across oceans, mountains, and polar landscapes.

The “Girls Trip” team, which includes polar guide Amelia Rudd, will reflect on their upcoming 20-day journey across northwest Svalbard, offering a perspective on inclusivity, climate, and the human side of exploration.

Some of the attendees at Expedition Finse 2024

Sebastian Orskaug, a doctor and former Navy diver with extensive field experience, will speak about the medical and survival challenges of expeditions. And finally, Catharina Frostad, a sailor and entrepreneur will present on her sailing expeditions and climate focused technology her company has developed.

Alongside them, I’ll be talking about the evolving nature of polar expeditions and the wider expedition industry over recent decades.

It’s an honour to be invited and I’m really looking forward to being part of this event because Finse itself has such a strong connection to polar history, and because it offers the chance to share stories and ideas with others who are equally fascinated by the pull of the polar regions.
